Allo Snap Partner Summit 2021 yesterday, which like almost all the events of recent months was held in videoconference due to a pandemic, the company that owns Snapchat - Snap, in fact - illustrated a series of news which aim to increase the platform's popularity among content creators, businesses and developers, to more vigorously counter the dominance of Instagram and Facebook. The new application also came out of the same event Story Studio, which will allow creators to produce content similar to what they have made of TikTok a planetary phenomenon.
One of the first changes that Snapchat plans to introduce soon is Scan, the tool of augmented reality scan introduced in 2019 following the agreement with Scan.me, one of the most prominent startups in the sector.
The intention is to bring Scan to the main screen of the application in order to increase the number of users who use this function, a number which, however, is already very high: beyond 170 million in fact, they use it every month.
In addition to this interface reorganization, Snapchat is preparing to introduce a new feature within Scan known as Screenshop which will provide advice on purchases the moment an item is scanned on the application. Along with this, Scan will also show advice on recipes to be made with foods that should be framed, recipes that will come from the huge Allrecipes database.
Finally, the camera it will become even smarter, increasing its ability to suggest shooting modes and soundtracks to enrich content based on what the software recognizes in the frame. The distribution of most of these news will start already in next hours.
The Snap Partner Summit 2021 event also unearthed some Snapchat numbers. The social platform has reached and exceeded the threshold of 500 million active users every month, with 40% of its users living outside of Europe and North America.
